獲得國民黨中常會同意核備提名為總統候選人的洪秀柱18日表示，她近日將拜會立法院長王金平以及黨內大老，包括榮譽主席連戰、吳伯雄等人。對於外界排斥「大老文化」，洪秀柱說，社會倫理很重要，尊重一個人不代表接受他所有的看法及政見，曾擔任過領導的人，就必須給予他必要的尊重，這是做人的道理。
洪秀柱說，她會去懇託王金平幫她輔選，如果王金平願意出馬，至少要擔任競選團隊的主任委員或榮譽主任委員以上的職務。
洪秀柱表示，除了拜會黨內大老，她也會在最快的時間內聯繫拜訪親民黨主席宋楚瑜，聽取宋楚瑜對國家施政的意見與批評，並請求宋楚瑜的支持。
此外，洪秀柱表示，過段時間，她會拜師上課，不能總是輸出不輸入，也會補足幕僚團隊的實力。
